Push Notification
Introduction
The Push Notifications extension allows you to send real-time updates to merchants (or store staff) regarding their orders, including notifications for events such as order placement, cancellations, returns, store reassignment, and delivery. This extension provides configurable options for each event, enabling you to tailor notifications to enhance merchant experience & keep them informed the order event updates.
Steps to Use Push Notifications Extension
- Navigate to the Extensions section in the Fynd Platform’s sidebar menu.
- Select Push Notifications: From the list of extensions, click on Push Notifications to open its configuration panel.
Once the extension is installed, it will be available in this list.
Open the Push Notifications Extension to configure it.
Configure Push Notifications
The configuration section allows view analytics tracking and the events that will trigger notifications. You can customize messages, choose the target app and device, and enable test notifications to verify the configuration.
Analytics
The Analytics feature helps you monitor the performance of your push notifications. Key metrics tracked include:
- Sent: The total number of notifications sent to merchants.
- Opened: The percentage of notifications opened by recipients, indicating engagement.
- Failed: The count of notifications that failed to deliver, which may help identify any issues with the app or device compatibility.
Events
Events are specific customer actions or order statuses that can trigger notifications. The Push Notifications extension offers the following configurable events:
- Order Placed:
- Triggered when a customer successfully places an order.
- Toggle Store OS App or Fynd Platform App to specify the platform for notifications.
- Preview: Click to view a sample notification before it is sent to merchants.
- Test Notification: Testing notifications allows you to preview and verify messages before they are sent to merchants. Follow these steps to test a notification in the Push Notifications extension.
- Select the event you want to test (e.g., Order Placed).
- Next to the event, click the Test Notification button.
- A test configuration window will pop up, showing input fields for App Name, shipment_id, and order_id.
- App Name: Select the app for the notification.
- Enter shipment_id: Input a sample shipment ID (required for testing).
- Enter order_id: Input a sample order ID (required for testing).
- After entering the required details, click Send Notification to preview the test notification.
- Order Canceled by Customer:
- Triggered when a customer cancels an order.
- Toggle options for Store OS App or Fynd Platform App.
- Use Preview to review the message format.
- Return Initiated:
- Activated when a customer initiates a return request.
- Enable or disable the notification for each app by using the toggle buttons.
- Use Preview to verify the message content.
- Store Re-assigned:
- Notifies when a fulfillment store is reassigned for an order.
- Toggle the notification on or off for each app.
- Preview the message to ensure accuracy.
- Order Delivered:
- Triggered when an order is delivered successfully.
- Activate or deactivate the notification for the chosen app by toggling the switches.
- Use Preview to check the message display.
The Test Notification button is available for each event to allow you to simulate notifications and verify that they display correctly on the chosen platform and device. Click Preview in each event to view the exact message format before activation.
Activating/Deactivating Push Notifications
- Ensure that the Push Notifications toggle at the top of the configuration page is set to "Active" if you want notifications to be sent to merchants.
- For each specific event, toggle the switch to "Active" or "Inactive" depending on whether you want notifications for that event.
Final Output
Once the Push Notifications extension is fully configured and all settings are saved, merchants will start receiving notifications based on the events you have activated.
